someone to cheer for!

Let all of my reticence with the Olympics fall away, at least for two days, because we have a friend competing! Another old friend from childhood blogged this week that Amber Campbell is competing the 18th and 20th, throwing the hammer in track and field.

A little background: Amber's mom and my mom ran a non-profit organization that served teen moms (alternative school), and families in need of social services in Tucumcari. Amber was two years (or one?) younger than me and we spent many hours together in car trips to our older siblings' sports events all over New Mexico. By high school I left for my foreign exchange and Amber's family moved away. I've heard very little about/from them since so I had no idea she was still competing in track and field.

Amber is blogging her Olympic experience here, so you can cheer, too:

Go, Amber, Go!
